Who I am
I earned my MA in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University in 2011, then spent several years on professional walkabout as I tried out various jobs in marketing, baking, vet tech-ing, and more. I ultimately found my way back to the publishing world when I started working at Agate Publishing in Evanston, Illinois, in 2019.
With a rich blend of roles as both a project manager and editor, my expertise spans across the dynamic worlds of fiction, nonfiction, educational publishing, and more. As the editorial manager of Agate’s trade publishing team, I had the privilege of guiding stories from the spark of an idea to the final polished manuscript.
Over the past few years, I’ve honed my skills in developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, ensuring that every narrative shines. My journey in the editorial realm has been driven by a passion for storytelling and a commitment to excellence. I’ve collaborated closely with authors, nurturing their visions while providing the critical eye needed to elevate their work. Whether it's refining the characterizations in a novel, fine-tuning the nuances of a memoir, or performing a DEI edit of supplemental educational materials, my goal is to bring out the best in everyone’s writing.
I believe in the power of words to transform, inspire, and connect, and now, as a freelancer, I’m able to work even closer with authors to achieve their literary goals.
